Australian Jugglers...

Is there any on this forum besides me?
Surely there must be, it's just that there's no Aussie juggling clubs listed and I've not heard anyone state they're Australian. It'd be great to hear from other Australian jugglers and what not because I'm thinking about possibly attending some juggling conventions around Australia when the time comes to it :).

I myself am from Tasmania, so again if there's any jugglers specifically from my state I'd love to hear from you and perhaps meet up sometime!
Though next year I'll most likely be moving to Melbourne, and will be going to the University of Melbourne, so would also love to hear from students that go to some of the clubs around Melbourne :).

Thankyou, Dylan.

Hi Dylan,

I'm Australian, too.  Been juggling for about 10 years now, and been part of the online community for about seven and a half years.

I'm from Melbourne, and learnt most of my juggling at the Melbourne Uni Juggling Club, and have been to all of the Melbourne Juggling Conventions, and most of the Sydney Juggling Conventions, since they started.  So I'm happy to answer any questions about Clubs and Conventions on the mainland for you.

On an OT note, what are you going to be studying at Uni?

Cheers,
Dave

Awesome, sounds like you're quite the experienced juggler :).

Did you find the juggling club through going to Uni yourself or online?
I definitely plan to start attending the Melbourne Uni Juggling club when I go there :).

Also I might go to this, https://mjc.juggling.net.au/Melbourne_Juggling_Convention/Melbourne_Juggling_Convention.html this year if I can organize it :).
Do you plan on going to this convention? And when people go, is there normally organized accommodation or does everyone just find their own? (I think I'd prefer to stay with people for a cheaper and more enjoyable trip =D).

OT:
I noticed by your post in my 'juggling inventory' topic, that you also speedcube (or used to) which I used to be right into myself and was going to come to Melbourne for a comp =P but I'm kinda over that now =P.

Also, I'm planning on studying Engineering, I'm not sure which specialty yet but I'm leading towards Chemical or Biomedical. Though who knows, perhaps I'll prefer electrical or structural once I get more info on the different types =P.

Don't know whether "experienced" is the right word.  Maybe I used to be, but not so much any more.  These days, I spend far more time sitting around talking about juggling, than I do actually juggling.

To answer some of your questions:
I found the Melbourne Uni club when I was a student there.  It was the main thing that got me into juggling.  I knew how to juggle a basic three ball cascade at the time, but I remember walking past and seeing someone juggling continuous three ball backcrosses and being totally blown away.  So I went and talked to them, joined the club, and haven't looked back.
Definitely get along to the MJC if you can.  Barring anything unforseen, I should be there.  There isn't really any official accommodation, most people tend to couch-surf or stay at a local backpackers.  A little closer to the date, shoot Luth (the head organiser) an email, and she should be able to offer a guide as to the best places to stay.
Yeah, used to do a bit of speedcubing.  Got down to 30s averages, but then life got in the way and haven't really done much since.  I'm still keen to learn blindfolded 3x3x3, but that might be for another day.
Good luck with the Engineering.  I started out my time at Melbourne Uni in an Elec Eng degree.  Only lasted a year or so in that one, until I decided that Marketing was more my scene.
